    My Short Story

After graduating from Penn State University I worked for a short time in Manhattan as a photographer photographing the streets and sidewalks for the City. I loved the job but it didn't even pay for the commute. So I moved back to Pennsylvania to live with my Mom in Honesdale where I got a job working for a small newspaper in Hawley called the Hawley Eagle. I hated that job but I was able to save some money and after two years of torture I got a motorcycle, a Honda Sabre 750 and off I went on my journey cross country. I thought at the time that I had an awesome plan but looking back on it I now realize that didn't have a good plan, and in fact, I had no plan at all. My bike started making weird banging noises while driving through Wyoming and was told the only place to get it fixed was Las Vegas so that is how I got here. Spent my first summer living in a tent in a KOA campground next-door to the Honda shop. I finally ran out of money and had to find a job.

First job was working for a Newspaper in North Las Vegas called the Valley Times where I worked for a year until they shut down after the owner Bob Brown died. It was a great experience and some of the friends I made there are still friends today. After that I got a job with a landscaping company just to get by till I could find something better. Had only had that job a few months when I got a call from another paper called The Nifty Nickel and that is where I worked through multiple owners and couple of name changes that included 30 years as Southwest Printers and finally ended with a year of S&S Web and new ownership. At Southwest Printers I went from working in the Prepress Dept to running the Prepress Dept and eventually becoming General Manager. I loved Southwest Printers and absolutely hated S&S Web. S&S is where I got layed-off in March 2015.

From there I was at a loss what to do but decided I no longere wanted to work for someone else. I wanted to run my own company. I started an online company called CamisetaModa where I sold and sell printed t-shirts, wallets, mugs and stuff like that. However, it did not bring in much money so had to do something else and fast. So I decided to do what I have done all my life and that is clean pools. So I started a company called Aquática Pool Services. I printed mailers and targeted a Zip Code and it grew quickly. So here I am. At times I wonder what would have happened and where I would be now if I had not quit my first job in New York. These are the decisions you make in life.
